My niece and nephew, in LA

I had the great privilege of visiting my sister, brother in law, niece, and nephew in LA a couple of weeks ago. It was my niece and nephew's birthday weekend, and although I was unable to attend their party (I was attending the Cotsen Open Go Tournament), I did manage to get some great pictures of the two of them playing around the house and along the trails at Point Vicente in Palos Verdes. These two are only a year apart and they are just as cute as can be!

They both had a great time playing with their new birthday toys.

Grandpa and grandma were there for some of the fun!

The puppet show was a lot of fun, although somebody got a little pouty when she had to share...

She went outside and sulked for a bit.

But pretty soon her brother came along and cheered her up.

Then it was on to the cliffs at Point Vicente to run along the trails, play on the "slide", and watch the waves!

At the end of the day, we went home and the kids waited for their daddy while they played with their new "chemistry set" out on the driveway.

Overall, it was a great weekend hanging out with family and getting to see my niece and nephew. They are both so full of energy that things are constantly happening around them faster than I can photograph, but I think I captured a few special moments from the day. Both of these cuties are so photogenic it's hard to take a bad picture of either one of them.

Finally, I got my most Alfred Hitchcock-y picture to date! There is some great natural lighting in my sister's house, and it happened to line up in a way that I thought was really neat for this shot. This one is a little out of the theme of the post, but I just like the lighting so much!
